In Pakshi, Bharati Pitre draws a sharp parallel between political figures and birds. The crow, representing the victorious politician, appears assured and self-congratulatory, while the parrot, his crony, stands beside him holding multiple party flags, ready to shift allegiance at any moment.
The work reflects on opportunism and the fluidity of loyalty within political systems. The title Pakshi, derived from paksha (political party), reinforces this association, where identity becomes interchangeable and driven by circumstance rather than conviction.
