Why Add an Active Intake?

Strong extraction can create excess negative pressure, causing tent walls to cave in and airflow to drop.

An active intake introduces a controlled flow of cooler, oxygenated air to match your extraction rate. This keeps VPD and CO₂ levels stable, reduces temperature swings, and helps maintain ideal growing conditions across the canopy.

Choosing the Right Size

Your intake should always move slightly less air than your extraction to keep odours sealed and pressure balanced. As a guide, use an intake fan one size smaller than your extractor:

• 4 in extraction = 4 in intake (run at 50–70 %)
• 5 in extraction = 4 in intake
• 6 in extraction = 5 in intake
• 8 in extraction = 6 in intake
• 10 in extraction = 8 in intake

If you’re using long duct runs or an intake filter, increase intake speed slightly to offset resistance and keep pressure stable.

How to Set Up

1. Mount the fan: Fit the Mammoth Juiced EC Fan to a lower tent port, facing inward.
2. Attach ducting: Connect the 5m Vortex Combi Ducting to draw fresh air from a cooler source.
3. Secure connections: Use the supplied duct clip to seal joints tightly and prevent air loss.
4. Adjust speed: Start at 30–50 % power, fine-tuning until the tent walls sit slightly inward for ideal negative pressure.

Top Tip: Aim for a gentle inward draw on the tent walls – that’s the sign your extraction is stronger than your intake and your carbon filter is sealing efficiently. If the tent walls pull in too much, increase intake speed slightly.
