During the early stages of the Pacific Theater of World War Two, the Grumman F4F Wildcat was considered America's most capable fighter. Technical features like its complex folding wings allowed US carriers to carry more aircraft, but this, plus the self-sealing fuel tanks and armor plating, made the Wildcat heavier and less maneuverable than its adversary, the Japanese Zero. However, in the hands of a seasoned pilot and using proper tactics, the F4F could be a formidable opponent. The F4F flew roughly 15,500 sorties during the conflict, with a kill rate of 6.9:1. This ProfiPACK box includes Eduard's 1:48 F4F-4 Wildcat kit with markings for six aircraft, plus pre-painted photo-etched details and painting masks.
