Dvorak, Antonin(1841-1904)
Description:
During the 19th and 20th centuries, there was a reform and change in the consciousness of people in neighboring countries who believed that the highest standards of culture and art were found in Central and Western Europe, resulting in a series of works that used the musical language of their own folk songs and folk music. The "Russian Five" originated in Russia with Glinka, Grieg and Nielsen in Scandinavia, Granados and Albeniz in Spain, and Smetana and Dvořák in the Czech Republic wrote many works that made use of their country's history and musical characteristics. This three-disc set includes the piano trios of Smetana and Dvořák's daughter-in-law Suk, with Dvořák at the center of the set. Enjoy the unique ensemble of Gramola label's leading violinist Irnberger, Czech violinist Kaspar, and cellist Geringas. Naxos Japan
