Wood soda fired
approx 95mm H x 80mm lip diameter
Duncan Shearer throws his pots on a slow-moving treadle wheel, responding intuitively to the differing characteristics of clay. Most of his work begins on the wheel before being added to and subtracted from, altering the initial round forms in search of a liveliness and freshness that carries through the entire making process. His firing method, using a wood kiln and spraying a small quantity of soda ash solution at high temperatures, introduces an inherent unpredictability, creating variegated flashings and speckled glaze patterns that make each piece unique.
Please note there may be slight variations in size and design due to each piece being individually handmade
