A stunning Edward Vom Hofe Model 360 Perfection fly reel in very scarce 1/0 size. 3 1/4" diameter with 1 1/8" wide spool. RHW. This reel carries the '83 patent date on the oil cap. Serial number H392 dating the reel to 1915. This reel has been carefully and lovingly restored to its original luster in a fashion that would make Edward Vom Hofe proud. The owner of his reel purchased it from a reputable collector and the original head plate had a small crack and some warping. In consultation with Ron Davis, the owner had Bill Archuletta, at considerable time and expense, fashion a replacement out of hard rubber that is a spot on replica of the original plate. With this reel comes the paperwork with Bill, including the schematics used to develop the replacement plate (this is the sort of collaboration and care that you just love to see involved in a reel like this!). Also enclosed is the original plate as well as an aluminum one that was used to test out the fit prior to making the hard rubber replacement. The result speaks for itself and is superbly done. The rest of the reel, I should also say, is in tremendous, almost flawless condition.

This has all of the hallmarks of the Perfection model, with a german silver frame, hard rubber sideplates, and an adjustable drag and click and the five detent arrowhead pointer drag feature with red dot indicators. The reel foot is original and full-length. Mechanically the reel feels and sounds flawless with a silky smooth click. It comes packed in a custom made leather case the top of which features "Perfection, EHC [The Owner's Initials], E. Vom Hofe" pressed into it. If only all great old reels had this kind of care given to them to bring them fully back to their original state!
