For sale here is a Simroe-era H.L. Leonard Model 38H bamboo rod - 7' 2/2 for a 4 weight line. Serial no. 2047. The rod is in excellent original condition with one exception. There was a minor delamination near the top of the butt section. The repair was expertly performed by Mike Clark (South Creek Ltd.) leaving the rod good as new and void of any evidence of the repair. All sections are full-length and straight.

Straw colored cane with crimson-red wraps. The winding check features purple and crimson tipping. Oxidized guides. Ring hook keeper. The script remains clean and bold. Nickel silver checks. The 5" cigar grip is moderately soiled to a nice patina with an area of slight ridging towards the top. Nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a mortised butternut spacer. The ferrule fit is excellent. The rod weighs 2.80 oz. with an action on the medium side of medium-fast. Includes the original yellow bag with stiffening dowel and the original tube with brass fittings and red and silver foil label.
