Rage Against The Machine
Description:
Rage's first 20th anniversary album was a pioneer of the new generation of heavy rock that created the rap-metal/mixture genre with its innovative fusion of rap music with a political and social message and creative deadly guitar noise. The band formed in 1991, and their never-before-heard rock sound and strong message sparked a battle for the record company, which was won by Epic, who gave the band "maximum creative freedom". As shocking as the album itself, the JK photo is a famous image of Vietnamese monks "burning themselves" in front of the U.S. embassy in protest of the then regime's crackdown on Buddhists during the Vietnam War. In the past 20 years, no other music or artwork has had the same impact and message as theirs. They are a "revolutionary" band, completely different from their contemporaries NIRVANA and PEARL JAM, in the sense that they created the "mixed-music" style that came later and continued to raise issues to the world head-on. When the album was first released, it was called "Led Zeppelin x Public Enemy. This strong individuality led to sales of 5 million copies. In Japan, they sold more than 150,000 copies.
