1. Hard Starting or Failure to Start

The engine cranks but doesn’t start easily, especially when cold.

This happens if the pump can’t build enough fuel pressure or isn’t timing the injection correctly.

2. Loss of Power or Poor Acceleration

The engine feels weak, sluggish, or struggles under load.

A worn or damaged pump may not deliver enough fuel for proper combustion.

3. Excessive Smoke from Exhaust

Black smoke: Too much fuel or poor atomization.
