A superb William Olson Gear and Pawl fly reel, 4" diameter and set up for RHW. Black anodized throughout with a clear anodized foot and S-shaped crank handle. Two handsome medallions are inset into the front plate with the first noting the model and serial number (4" G&P / No. 241) while the second bears William's maker stamp. The reel weighs 12.1 ounces on my scale. It is in mint, unfished condition. Ivorine-style handle. Pre-set gear and pawl drag which has one of the loudest clicks of any gear and pawl reel I've ever seen (your friends will know when you are into a fish on this reel!). The reel packs into its original leather drawstring bag with Arne Mason's stamp on one side and "W.R. Olson" stamped on the other. Mr. Olson has built a well-deserved reputation as one of our best contemporary bench reelmakers, and, as fans know, the waitlist is substantial.
