Saint Joseph's Clay Eaters took the field in 1889 as part of the Western Association, carrying one of the strangest nicknames in minor league history. Missouri's frontier spirit ran deep, and small-town baseball clubs were the pride of entire communities. Teams like this gave Saint Joseph, Missouri something to rally around.
Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched golden-yellow distressed text reads "SAINT JOSEPH, MO" across the top.
