Based upon several years of archival research, the author's analysis simply reinvents this field of collecting, resulting in a complete guide to the swords and sabers of the post-Civil War era. This work includes a quick "Identification Guide" that makes recognition a snap. All issued and experimental types are described, and over 800 black and white illustrations show you all of the details. Previously unknown models and variations are identified within and includes full production number data and dates of manufacture. Also covered are belts, buckles and other accessories. The amount of research for this work was so extensive that we could not include all of it, so a SUPPLEMENTARY COMPUTER DISK (CD) WILL BE INCLUDED. This disk contains hundreds of pages of additional material, almost amounting to a whole other book of its own.
