Displaying a medium ruby core, the 2017 Deconstructed Syrah Lake District Cartref SH9c is red-fruited with hints of potpourri and white spice. Medium-bodied, the Syrah opens to flavors of ripe, juicy and dark red berries with notions of wilted red flowers and a touch of reduction, showing a balanced structure with growing tannins. The Syrah concludes with a firm, tannic edge that will remain food-friendly for the next 10 years. I suspect this bottling will perform better with additional time in the cellar.
